About us

Creative intervention for social transformation through effective empowerment and productive compassion.

Empowering individuals, families and social groups to lead happier lives with healthier relationships and serve less privileged fellow beings with love, by fostering intrapersonal and interpersonal harmony.

Living in Harmony

Living in Harmony (LIH) is a practical philosophy of intrapersonal and interpersonal integration for happy living with healthy relationships. Conceived and developed by ATMA Founder Director C K Suresh, LIH forms the basis of all ATMA initiatives.

The ATMA Story

It all began as one man’s commitment to seek a creative response to a dire social need. In early 2000, Kerala was slowly waking up to a new reality – that of accelerating psycho-social negativities among the youth, with the state topping the charts in suicides, teenage crimes, violence against women and substance abuse. C K Suresh, a trainer by profession and a counsellor by passion, was actively involved in various social campaigns to prevent suicides among youth. Interacting with youngsters through camps, workshops, awareness drives and counselling sessions, he realised that, behind every misguided teenager, there was the story of a broken family. He realised that the lack of love, values and relationships, especially within the family, was the root cause of the increasing negativities.

This sparked the idea of creating an organisation to promote love and relationships, and to empower the individual and the family. Inspired by this vision, and strengthened by years of experience in social work, C K Suresh formed the ATMA Foundation in 2006 – a platform for people to find love and happiness for themselves, and to spread it to the world around.

Over the years, ATMA has grown into a reputed Voluntary Organisation, actively engaging with the community through various development initiatives. From promoting ‘Happy Living with Healthy Relationships’, ATMA has expanded into ‘Volunteering Transformation’ – enabling people to achieve their best and inspiring them to share their blessings with less privileged brethren.
